UP Way Joined Racing Event at Macau Grand Prix

The Macau Grand Prix is one of ​​Macau largest annual sports and tourism event. In November 2018, the "65th Macau Grand Prix" brought together more than 100 top international drivers to join the Guia Circuit, which is known for its difficulty. The General Assembly estimated that a total of 83,000 people entered the Grand Prix for four consecutive days. The Macau Grand Prix was first held on 1954. It is the 65th edition, which is held over for four days, from November 15th to 18th, 2018. It’s extremely challenging for all the players with the race length of 6.2 kilometers. The track is rebuilt from the streets of downtown Macau. There is almost no buffer zone for driving. Along the way, it consists of a series of high-speed straights followed by fast corners, uphill and downhills, and even extreme U-turns, let alone the degree of thrilling.

The event was supported by the FIA, and included three world-renowned World Cups, including the Formula 3 Grand Prix, the Macau GT Cup and WTCR, for a total of six thrilling events. Sponsored by Up Way Group, Macau's LEONG Ian Veng, the six-time Macau Cup champion, drove the No. 6 car and ranked 4th on the first day of the Touring Car Cup. In the free practice race with a total of 31 drivers, Mr. LEONG achieved the third fastest lap in the 1950cc and above category.

On November 17th, the race, which combined the 1600cc Turbo and the Over 1950cc classes, saw a brilliant start with Wong and Kinoshita immediately getting into a heated battle while Poon followed close behind. On lap 2, the Safety Car was called out after Macao driver Lei Kit Meng ended up in the barrier at Mandarin. Leong Ian Veng then ended his race in the barrier at Maternity Bend causing a 15-minute race suspension. It was an intense, drama-filled race which saw Paul Poon of Hong Kong make it a double win for Suncity Racing Team by taking the 1600cc Turbo class victory, crossing the line third overall.
